Additional Information

Edmund was his registered name, but he was christened Edwin, and generally used this Christian name.

Son Edward was christened Edwin, and he generally used this name. However the name on his birth and death certificates was Edward. See, for example, his 1886 Rifle Brigade enlistment, and his 1914 Army Reserve enlistment. Edwin joined the Rifle Brigade in 1886, and was a Colour Sergeant on his discharge in Mar 1903.
