Additional Information

John’s first wife, Elizabeth, Died in Nov 1837. There were two subsequent marriages of a Maria to a John Brown at St Pancras Parish Church in 1838. However, only for the Brown-Ley marriage is John Brown described as a widower. This raises a slight inconsistency, in that Maria is stated to be older than John in the 1841 census return, whereas her baptism record shows her to be younger.
