Additional Information

George lived at 2 Dogflood Cottages, East Street, after the death of his wife, Ann, with Charles and Eliza, their son and daughter-in-law. Charles and Eliza continued to live there until after the 1901 census. At the time of the 1891 census the (four) Dogflood Cottages were apparently located between 73 and 78 East Street. By the 1901 census ”2 Dogflood cottages, East Street” was named, or renamed, “76 East Street”.73 East Street used to be the Eagle public house. It is believed that the Dogflood cottages were located next to the Eagle, on its west side. This site is now a used-car parking lot.

A document held by the Farnham & District Museum Society gives the interesting information that Mrs Denyer (presumably Eliza) of 76 East Street was the first in line to receive the new old age pension on 1 Jan 1909.
