Carter’s Terrace and High Street, Windmill Fields

The London Gazette, 2 September 1870, advertises dwellings for sale in Carters Terrace, High Street, Windmill Fields.

Five cottages with carpenter's shop and yard in the rear, in Park-street, Calverley or Windmill Fields (formerly called the Nags Head Field) , Tunbridge Wells , and known as Carters-cottages. Six dwelling-houses and shops , with slaughterhouse and gardens in the rear, called Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Carters-terrace, High-street, Calverley or Windmill fields, Tunbridge Wells aforesaid. Five dwelling-houses with large gardens in the rear, called Nos. 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, Carter's-terrace, High-street, Calverley or Windmill Fields.

It equates Windmill Fields with Nags Head Field, and identifies the area concerned as Calverley.

Carters Terrace and High Street no longer exist, but there is a Windmill Street, presumably named after the original Calverley Windmill, next to St Peter’s Church. The 1883 Pelton’s Illustrated guide to Tunbridge Wells gives the location of St Peter’s church as Windmill Fields.
