Ada Caroline Godsall was registered at birth and baptised as Caroline Ada Godsall. According to the Binding Records, William Samuel did not complete his Lighterman apprenticeship. William Albert Townsend had a son Albert William (1925-2004). Edwin Cecil Townsend married a widow, Mabel Annie Bertram, maiden name Lucas, who was 23 years older than he was. At some point Edwin changed his surname from Townsend to Bertram, both of these being entered in the 1939 England Register. The use of the surname Bertram appears as early as 1933 in the London Electoral Register. On his second marriage to Louise Mulligan he used the surname Bertram, and this name was also used on his death certificate.
