Mark 12:28-34; 1 Jn 3:16-18; 1 Cor 13:4-8a.

1.      Love is Most Important
Greatest of all commandments (Mark 12:31)
The Law and Prophets hang on these (Matt 22:40)
It is the Royal Law (Jas 2:8)

2.      Love is Relationship
Love is knowing God (1Jn 4:6)
More important than religious duty (Mark 12:33)
More important than service (Lu 15:28)

3.      Love is Response
We love because God loved us (1 Jn 4:8-11)
We love as Christ loved us (Jn 13:34; 15:12)
Love cannot overlook need (1 Jn 3:17,18; 4:20)

4.      Love is the Difference
Love is the identifying mark of true Christians (Jn 13:35)
Love will distinguish in the Day of Judgement (Matt 7:21-23; 25:31-46)
Without love all acts are nothing (1 Cor 13:1-3)

5.      Love is Denying Self
Love is seeking the best for others (1 Cor 13:4-8a)
Love is laying down your life for others (1 Jn 3:16; Eph 5:25-27)
Love is following Jesus (Phil 2:2-7a; Lu 9:21-25)
