Readings:   1 Cor 13; 1John 4:7-21

                     Psalm 23

 

1. What is Love?

1. The most important thing in the world (Mark 12:29-31)
2. What God is ( 1 John 4:7,8)
3. What we need more than anything (1 Cor 13)

·        Illustration: tube with a tap – turn it on, but nothing comes out

2. How do I get Love?

1. Come to God (1 John 4:7,8)
• The King of Kings song
• Illustration: place the end of the tube in a bottle of water, but still nothing comes out.
2. Allow God’s Spirit to pour God’s love into your heart (Rom 5:5)
• Ask Him to do it
• Believe that He will
• Illustration: suck water into tube; tube is full of water, but still nothing comes out.
3. Give out God’s love (1 John 4:12)
• We completely receive only when we give love away
• Illustration: turn on the tap, and water siphons out!
• The more we give out the more God will pour in – and His supply will never run dry!
