Mary’s birthplace, Churchstanton, was originally in the county of Devon, but was transferred to Somerset in 1896. Mary’s maiden name was Dommett on her christening record, On her marriage record it was Dramet; also Dummett was recorded on her son Edmund’s birth certificate. Such variations of spelling often occurred when names were conveyed orally to presiding clerics, usually without spelling them. |
