1) The history of the Startin family is complicated by the fact that another William Startin married a girl named Elizabeth in Yoxall on 3 Oct 1797. This William Startin was from Uttoxeter, who married Elizabeth Startin (same surname!) from Yoxall. That this family also settled in Yoxall is almost certain, with their first child, John, being born in 1799. The difficulty is in knowing which of the two couples bore each of the above children. It is assumed that at least the first three listed above were born to William Startin from Uttoxeter. 2) An alternative christening date for Elizabeth Shipton was 30 Nov 1778 (in both cases the parents were Robert and Elizabeth Shipton). |
