Transcript of Will
I Juliana Willis of No. 22 St George’s Road Kilburn in the Parish of Hampstead in the County of Middlesex Widow do hereby revoke all Wills and Codicils and other testamentary dispositions made by me and declare this to be my last Will and testament I give and bequeath to my daughter Edith the sum of fifty pounds sterling provided always that all the moneys I paid on account of her husband Edwin John Makin to Mr George Hawksley and Mr S Tasker [???] be not repaid but if the said moneys shall have been repaid to me or shall be paid to my Executors within one month after my decease then this legacy of fifty pounds sterling shall lapse and my said daughter Edith shall take an equal share in my residuary estate with my sons Walter Julian and Sydney as hereinafter set forth I give and bequeath to my seven children one seventh part each of the sum of one thousand three hundred and fifty pounds left to me by my brother in law William Joseph Goodwin, but I direct that the shares of my daughter Juliana and of my sons Charles William and Arthur are to be placed in the special trust mentioned towards the end of this my Will I give and bequeath to my sons Walter Julian and Sydney the sum of fifteen hundred pounds sterling out of the moneys funds and securities held by me at my decease Upon trust to divide the interest and dividends thereof as and when the same shall be received into three equal parts and to pay in weekly or monthly or quarterly or half yearly payments be as the said trustees may think proper one part to my daughter Juliana one part to my son Charles William and one part to my son Arthur to each during his or her life and at the decease of my said daughter Juliana the trust is to be reduced by five hundred pounds sterling and the said five hundred pounds divided at once into four equal parts and one part given to the sole use of my daughter Edith and one part each to my sons Walter Julian and Sydney and in like manner at the decease of my said son Charles William the trust is to be reduced by five hundred pounds sterling and the said five hundred pounds to be divided as aforesaid and at the decease of my son Arthur the trust is to be reduced by five hundred pounds sterling and divided in like manner as aforesaid so that after the decease of my said daughter Juliana and my said sons Charles William and Arthur the above named sum of fifteen hundred pounds shall have been or shall be equally divided between and become the absolute [???] of my said daughter Edith and my said sons Walter Julian and Sydney or their several heirs executors administrators And I hereby authorise the said trustees my sons Walter Julian and Sydney to vest the said fifteen hundred pounds in parliamentary stock or publick funds of Great Britain or at interest upon government or real securities in England Scotland or Wales but not in any other security and shall from time to time alter vary and transpose such stock funds and securities at their discretion or as occasion may require I give and bequeath all my wearing apparel to my daughters Juliana and Edith in equal share and as I have or propose to distribute a great part of my household goods furniture plate linen china glass pictures books trinkets and all my goods and chattels amongst my children during my lifetime I hereby direct my executors with all convenient speed after my decease to divide in any fair way they may think proper the rest of my said household goods furniture plate linen china glass pictures books trinkets and all my goods and chattels other than money or securities for money into four equal parts and to give one part each to my said daughter Edith and my said sons Walter Julian and Sydney their heirs executors administrators or assigns absolutely for their sole and several use and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate after paying my debts legacies funeral and testamentary expenses I devise and bequeath the same in equal parts to my sons Walter Julian and Sydney their several heirs executors administrators or assigns absolutely for ever I hereby declare it is my wish that all moneys which my said daughter Juliana and my sons Charles William and Arthur shall acquire under this my Will or under the Deed of my Settlement Except their life interest in the fifteen hundred pounds trust aforementioned shall be held in trust – previously referred to as the special trust – for their benefit by my sons Walter Julian and Sydney under the same terms and conditions of trust as set forth for them in my dear husband’s Will except if either [???] dies then his or her share to which the survivor or survivors become entitled under the [???] of distribution shall be added to the trust and shall be subject exactly to the same conditions provided always if my daughter Juliana or my son Arthur marry without the approval in writing of the said trustees my sons Walter Julian and Sydney their her or his interest in this special trust now made under this my Will shall cease and the sum in trust for her or his benefit shall immediately become the property of the said trustees to use it absolutely as they please And I hereby appoint my said sons Walter Willis Julian Willis and Sydney Willis Executors of this my Will Provided always and I hereby declare my Will to be that if the said trustees hereby constituted or either of them or any trustee or trustees to be appointed as hereinafter provided shall die or be abroad from this Kingdom more than twelve calendar months at any one time or desire to be discharged or cease or become incapable to act then and in every such case it shall be lawful for the surviving or continuing trustees or trustee for the time being to appoint a new trustee or new trustees in the place of the trustee or trustees so dying or being absent from this Kingdom or desiring to be discharged or refusing or becoming incapable to act as aforesaid and that upon every such appointment all the moneys stocks funds and securities then vested in the trustees or trustee for the time being shall be so conveyed assigned and transferred that the same may be vested in the surviving or continuing trustee or trustees jointly with such new trustee or trustees or in such new trustees solely as the case may require and every trustee so appointed as aforesaid may act or assist in the execution of the trusts and policies of this my Will lawfully and effectually to all intents and purposes as if I had hereby constituted them a trustee In witness thereof I the said Juliana Willis have to this my last Will and testament set my hand this [???] day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven _ Juliana Willis _ Signed and On the 30th Dec 1887 Probate of this Will was granted to Walter Willis Julian Willis and Sydney Willis the Executors.
