Additional Information

The name Catherine seems only to have been used by her parents. It appears on her birth certificate and on the 1901 census return. From 1911 onwards the name Kathleen is used consistently.

Catherine’s mother died during Catherine’s childhood, between 1901 and 1911. In 1911, at the age of 10 years, she lived with her maternal grandmother and her uncle and aunt, Henry and Elizabeth Mowbray.

Catherine (Kathleen) and her husband Wilfred Brown are buried in Southwick Cemetery, Downsway, Southwick. In November 2021 the ashes of their daughter Phyllis and her husband Kenneth Bennett were also interred in the same grave plot.
