Additional Information The John born in 1839 and the John born in 1844 both appear to have died in early childhood. 10 Apr 1828 Deptford: John was bound to William Thomas as apprentice lighterman. 11 Jun 1835 John attained his freedom. 10 Oct 1865 Rotherhithe: William was bound to his father, John, as apprentice lighterman. 8 Nov 1870: William attained his freedom. 13 Feb 1866 Rotherhithe: Richard was bound to his father, John, as apprentice lighterman. There is no record of his attaining his freedom. He was a carpenter when he married in 1871. 10 Mar 1868 Rotherhithe: Robert was bound to his father, John, as apprentice lighterman. 8 Apr 1873 Robert attained his freedom. Along with her daughter Clara, Sarah Margaret raised a grandson, Robert John, born Oct-Dec 1875. Robert John was the only child of her son Robert and his wife Ellen. Sadly Ellen was confined to an institution when Robert John was just 4 years old, and remained confined until her death in 1926. Robert John was bound to his father Robert as an apprentice lighterman on 13 May 1890. He attained his freedom on 14 Jul 1896. Robert John was buried in Nunhead Cemetery on 13 Aug 1927; his wife Lydia Fanny was buried in the same plot on 14 Feb 1956.
