According to George’s father’s death certificate he emigrated to New Zealand in or about 1907 leaving his wife and sons behind. This must have been soon after George Cornelius Hamuel’s registration at St Michael’s school, Westminster, and is presumably why, four year’s later, he was attending school in Portslade instead. Rather strangely the 1939 Register shows George Cornelius Hamuel living in Camberwell with a Mary Brown and Florence Mary living at 56 Downland Ave, Southwick, with their sons. Ronald and Audrey emigrated to New Zealand. They had four children there: Nicola, Penelope, Fiona and Ian. No marriage record has been found for Cyril and Bertha (Peggy). They had two children: Bruce and Aline. Cyril and Rhoda had four children: Coral, Rhoda, David and Kim. George Cornelius Hamuel Brown and his wife Florence Mary visited New Zealand. They are listed as passengers on the M.V. “Port Vindex” that departed Wellington, N.Z., for the UK on 29 Feb 1964. His occupation is recorded as retired Station Master.
