This is a video of a worship song based on the words of the apostle Paul in Philippians 3: 10-14,
“I want to know Christ … becoming like him.”
It is no exaggeration to say that if every member of the human race were to become like Jesus Christ
overnight then all of the ills besetting humanity would be resolved rapidly, if not immediately.
The teaching and example of Jesus can be summarised as a tripartite call to love:
love God with all your being; love your neighbour as yourself; love one another as he loved us.
Even those who do not personally subscribe to the Christian faith have to agree that were everyone
to embrace these principles, or even just the last two, selfishness would cease,
aggression and abuse would vanish, the needy would be provided for, violence and war would be no more,
and all people would live in peace and harmony. It is therefore a cause of no little astonishment
that encouragement to be like Jesus is not fundamental to every culture, central to every constitution,
and diffused through every curriculum from crèche to university.
